80s Twist

Its been a crazy semester, but things are finally starting to wind down (although I seem to be spending all my time in PJs writing papers). By June, I hope to be posting regularly again. In the meantime, here's a pic of an outfit I wore recently. These teal tights rock my world!

White Tights

I am looooving my white tights. I've never been self conscious about having a pasty skin tone, so its fun to blind others with my white legs! Dress: Wet Seal Tank: ??? (Ross maybe) Necklace: H & M Bracelet: Charlotte Russe Tights: Wet Seal Peep-Toes: Ebay

Gladiator Sandals

I have been coveting these Gladiator Sandals even since I found these Chanel knock-offs on ebay. Today I finally committed to buying them and can't wait for them to actually arrive. Although $30 is more than I tend to spend on one pair of shoes, I just couldn't resist. I can't wait to pair these up with super feminine pieces (think Balenciaga Spring 08, but less structured) for summer.

Ironic dress?

Since I have been AWFUL at posting recently, finally here is a pic of the vintage dress that I recently fell in love with. I wore this last week to a meeting with prospective students who are considering enrolling in the department I'm currently a student in. Since this was a day that I knew a lot of people would be around, I wanted to wear something that got their attention, and this dress defintely did . . . although I had one professor ask me if I was wearing the dress to make an ironic statement. My response was a blank face (because I didn't understand why she thought the dress was ironic). I can't help it that I am in love with vintage secretary dresses!

New Dress

I know I have been one of the worst blogger recently. Basically, this semester has been extraordinarily brutal. I promise that your patience over the next couple of months will be rewarded with lots of posts (as soon as this damn semester ends).

In the mean time, I wanted to post an outfit pic today, but it was cream colored.

Did you have to read that last sentence twice? You might be asking yourself, "WTF is she talking about?" But for me it seems that when I wear cream/white colored clothes, stains become naturally attracted to me. Today it happened twice and that's when I gave up.

So instead I'll share one of my latest purchases. . . this vintage dress from ebay for $16 ($6 shipping). I can't wait until it arrives :)

I, of course, love it. But I'm curious. What do you think?

Posting Extravaganza

I know I haven't posted in quite a while at this point, so I decided I'd try to play catch up and posted several days outfits and any little thoughts that cross my mind as I post. Click any image to enlarge.
To the Left:
Wrap Dress: H&M
Tank Top: H&M Tights: Target
Mary Jane Pumps: Ebay
Necklace: Target
I like this wrap dress because its colorful and I always feel dressed up wearing it. It's a little big, but wearing a tank top underneath helps to camouflage this minor sizing issue.
To the Right:
Dress, tights, booties, and knee high socks: Target
Necklace: New York and Co.
Nothing fancy here, a Friday outfit during a cold day. This probably made more of an impact in person since the knee highs' navy coloring had a greater contrast with the tights than this picture suggests.
To the Left:
Tunic: Forever 21
Necklace: Forever 21
Brown Tank: Old Navy
Tights: Target
Boots: Wet Seal
Bracelets: Target and Forever 21
I decided to replace my favorite off the shoulder sweater with something more figure flattering. While I love this tunic, I don't love wearing it while drinking coffee. Apparently, stains are attracted to its creamy goodness . . . but at least I got this pic in without too much of a mess! And here's a close-up of the necklace.
To the Left:
Blouse: Old Navy
High Waisted Pants: Wet Seal
Necklace: Forever 21
Heels: Ebay I've finally given these new pumps a work out and I have to say that they are pretty comfortable (as comfortable as you can expect point-toed heels to be). I am loooooving these high waisted, wide leg pants. They definitely have this 40s feel to them. And my one nod to spring's feather obsession is this colorful feather necklace. I need to think of some fun ways to wear this layered with other neck pieces.
To the Right:
Blouse: Ross
Cami (not shown): Forever 21
Skirt: ???
Belt: Kohl's
Bracelets: Target and Forever 21
Boots: Target
My recent "shades of brown" day. Bored bloggers can click on the pic to see how sheer this blouse really is since you can see the stripes of my cami underneath. I had originally put the cami on with the hopes that the lace border would peak out of the blouse, but I seem to have a wardrobe malfunction attempting this feat!
To the Left:
Sweater: Rave
Necklace: New York and Co.
Ruffle Skirt: Target
Thigh High socks: H&M
Open Toe heels: Ebay
This is one of my favorites that I wore recently. I am obsessed with these open toe black pumps because I love the mirror-like heels, super sexy! This skirt is also a bit longer, but I really wanted to show off the thigh highs, so two carefully placed safety pins kept my skirt hiked up all day. This way I was able to wear it at mid-waist rather than on my hips. Safety pins are my new best friend :)

And last, but definitely not least, is the outfit I wore this last Thursday. I had a presentation at the Roosevelt hotel (midtown Manhattan) last week, which I had been anxious about so when my man suggested I go shopping afterwards as a treat to myself, I couldn't resist. And I'm glad I went because I found some great dresses on sale at H&M, like the one pictured above for $10. I love the 60s feel I get wearing this dress and plan to put it into heavy rotation, especially this coming fall.

Colorful Pumps

Finally, my orders have arrived and I couldn't be more happy with these sexy pointy toe pumps! I bought all of these pumps on ebay at the metronome shoe store. Not only are these pumps reasonably priced (generally $10 to $15 a pair), shipping on additional items (beyond the first purchase) are free! I figured then that it would be more cost effective to buy several pairs of shoes at a time. The only problem so far is that these shoes are a little narrow and I wish I had gone a half size up on the higher heels since the height puts pressure on my toes. Other than that, I would definitely recommend this ebay store.
P.S.--To the right you'll notice that I've added direct links to my favorite online shopping sites. Enjoy!

Shoe Wheel

I've been thinking about organizing my closet recently and came across this amazing shoe rack that I can't wait to get my hands on . . . I wouldn't mind having all the shoes stored in it either! At Bed, Bath and Beyond: $69.99 ($8.99 shipping and handling)

Busy Busy

This semester has been busy, busy, busy and so I haven't been able to devote as much time to blogging (or taking daily photos of outfits). Here is what I've had on recently:
This mod dress (left) was worn for a class presentation.
Dress: Forever 21 Necklace and Boots: Wet Seal
Tights: Target
The red and beige number (below) happen to be worn on the one spring-y day when the weather hit the upper 60s.
Red cardigan: Forever 21
Dress: Target
Tights: Target
Shoes: JcPenny's
Necklace and bracelets: Wet Seal
Lastly, is my V-day outfit (wrinkles from a long day of wear) with my new boots!
Red jumper: Target
Necklace: Old Navy
Earrings: Forever 21
Black Long Sleeve Tee: Rave
Tights: Red from Target, Patterned Black from Forever 21
The thing of love most about this outfit are the tights (you can double click for close-up). And Urban Original is awesome if you're looking for cheap yet cute shoes. Free shipping if you spend more than $50. I wore these boots two days in a row, all day, and my feet and legs still feel great. I love them!

I also completely forgot it was Valentine's day since I have never been a fan of the holiday. But strangely enough I ended up festive anyway. In fact, in college I wrote this little op-ed rant about my hate of Vday for the school newspaper:

When did Valentine’s Day turn into National PDA Day?

As happy couples anticipate this coming Saturday, I can’t help but shudder at the thought of another Valentine’s Day. Sure, Anti-Valentine’s Day enthusiasts often cite the commercialization that has assailed the purity of this holiday. We’ve all heard it before, “Love can’t be bought. Why must America insist on selling it to the masses?” But as I see it, the real problem with this sugary-sweet celebration lies in those unabashed moments where couples can’t keep their hands off each other.

It’s bad enough that I can’t go bowling without seeing at least one couple kissing after every frame (or in the case of the other weekend, ass-slapping and tit-grabbing too). Why must I, and everyone else for that matter, be subjected to watch couples sucking face at every corner?

Well, not every corner. But for a holiday whose history originated with secret wedding ceremonies, I have often wondered how people became so open with their displays of affection. When did a peck on the cheek turn into deep tongue thrashing? Not only is it awkward to walk by what should be a private moment shared by two people, it’s simply disgusting in that Michael/Lisa Marie stage kiss way.

Yeah, I know what you PDA offenders are thinking right now. All you want to do is show the world that you are happily in love, and what day could be better than Valentine’s Day to declare you adoration for each other. But have you ever asked yourself what the significance is of the world knowing what your foreplay looks like? You can just as emphatically flaunt your love by holding hands or looking into each other’s eyes so intensely that you can’t help but smile. No one needs to see you make out to know that your relationship is genuine.

So, spare me the soft-core porn moment and get a room, so the rest of us can enjoy our roses, chocolates and little candy hearts without the fear of bumping into an awkward PDA moment.

Changing it up

While I've been in a dress-wearing mood, I figure it's about time I changed up my silhouette. Not my crowning achievement as far as outfits go, and it definitely looked better in person, but such is life!

Blouse, pants, necklace: Kohl's

Cami: Forever 21

Shoes: Target

P.S. --I just spent a bunch of moola online today, I can't wait to share what I bought! I like to think I'm single handedly keeping my postman employed ;)

All Black

So, apparently I exceeded my bandwidth on photobucket:( And honestly, I'm too lazy to set up a new account so until it is restored on Feb 8th, I will post pics that unfortunately (or maybe fortunately depending on your perspective) can't be enlarged.

For the first week of classes, I decided black would be the color of the week.

The outfit to the left was worn to a Korean dinner with my uncle who was visiting from CA.
Tunic: New York and Co.
Necklace: Old Navy
Pencil Skirt: Wet Seal
Textured Tights: ?? (JCPenny's maybe)
Booties: Target
I kinda dig the candid pic to the right because I think it shows my haircut off well . . . Oh and my boobs!
This dress is awesome for two reasons: 1. The bubble hem 2. It was free
To the left:
Dress, Necklace and Bracelets: Wet Seal
Tights and Booties: Target
Boobs: All me :)

Slow Comeback

I'M BACK!!!

Well . . .kind of.

The beginning of the semester is always hectic and honestly, I just haven't had the motivation to post or even take photos of my daily wears.

Do others ever feel the same way? How do you gain momentum to keep your blogs updated regularly?
