Budget

Recently I have found myself spending a LOT of money on clothes. I've decided the time has come to create a monthly budget for myself. I was thinking that 5% of my monthly income could go towards fashion. What do you think? Is 5% a reasonable figure? How do you budget for clothes?

5% seems like a good amount to set aside for fashions, although I am a bit of a compulsive shopper myself and have not adhered to any "rules" that I have set for myself! I am one to talk. Another simple way to save money on good clothing is to place bids on misspelled auction items through eBay at this cool website I just heard about http://www.auctionoops.com, they research misspelled items, eBay typos and dedicated their website to these items. Because these eBay items are not spelled correctly, the average eBayer is not being connected to these items in an average search, so if you are bidding on these items, you can usually pick them up for quite a deal compared to items that everyone else on eBay is seeing and placing bids on. I have been watching this amazing Armani Cashmere Blazer and placed bids on a DKNY Silk and Cashmere top as well as a top by Roberto Cavalli. There are so many top named designers on this site it is wonderful. I am in a shopper’s paradise, especially if I can pick up items for a bargain! Oh, I almost forgot about the designer sunglasses and purses! Not only do they have well known designers but great looking knock-offs as well. They are brimming with hundreds of big names brands that we all have heard of.

I'm totally the same, but I think 5 percent is very good. I normally write down everything I spent as well, so I can shock myself into not buying.

Okay, I am definitely the outcast, but I don't think 5% is enough (unless your making 6 figures). When you think about underwear, casual wear, dress wear, outer wear, shoes, accessories, makeup, etc etc etc.

I have no idea what the right amount would be, but I would have to imagine that it would end up being more than 5% at the end of the day.
